2001-04-10: Long Time, No Acid.

Yes, it's quite a long gap since the last time I updated the page. I spent 2 hours Saturday, trying to rearrange it because my images (which were in sub-directories) would not view. I had to go through the pages and edit them so they pointed to images in the main directory. In other words: The Alternate Universe is one big flat-file :P

Well, I've officially finished my degree now. the graduation ceremony is on the 21st of this month. Here I was thinking I was finished but no, I did something very silly (well to me it isn't): I signed up for a PhD. That's right kids, I'm going to try and "Expand the body of Scientific Knowledge". I think I'll try and pop up some of the stuff I get into in my research on this site from time to time (hey! I have 50 meg might as well use it. Tripod I Kiss You!)

Another reason why the update was a long time coming - I moved and got a job. But now I'm sitting on this big phat cable, rather than a 33.6 modem so I'm quite happy ;) Except for the other night - I downloaded the Dune Miniseries part I and found it was corrupted! Argh! 596 meg of hot Atriedes lovin' and the .avi file is corrupt. I guess it's a lucky thing I'm reading the book...

Back to the job bit - I'm now working for a company called Technology One, who do a lot of large-scale fixed-term, fixed-budget projects, as well as have a range of financial/admin etc. products for med-large enterprise level. It's funny, Tech One is one of the few companies actually growing at the moment (something like 30-40% growth). Good to be working for a company like that than just another dodgy .com company.

Well, the aussie dollar is worth Diddley-Squat now in US$. My friends and I do a fairly regular order from ThinkGeek.com but since the AUD$ took such an absolute thwacking (just under 49c US at the moment) my order of 4 Cans od Penguin Mints and 4 tubes of Caffiene Kicks, plus shipping (note the shipping was divided amongst 4 people so was cheaper anyway) came to $42!!! ThinkGeek I love you man, but until the AUD$ goes up or you open thinkgeek.com.au, I won't be buying stuff for a while :(

In other News, Beanbag released their new album. I was at the Aussie premiere at "The Healer" in that lovely city: BrisVegas (Brisbane). The literally shook the place! If you're from the US, get yourself to Beanbag Online and find out the closest venue they're playing at and camp out! There's some great new material on this album. I have the scanner set up again, so I think A beanbag discography is in order...

Books, books, books... I said earlier that I was reading Dune? Well that's the most recent addition to my library. Sice I finished Uni, I've chewed through A new Stephen Lawhead, Half of Raymond E. Fiest's catalogue, and the latest book by Sara Douglass. I think I'm on a first-name basis with the people at bookworld now...

Anyway, time for some bed...
